1 Dead, 1 Injured in Fiery 2-Car Collision in El Cajon
EL CAJON, CA (April 29, 2019) – One person has died and another suffered serious injuries following a fiery head-on collision on Willow Glen Drive near Campbell Lane Saturday morning.
Dispatchers responded to calls around 12:56 a.m. involving a two-car accident.
Arriving crews determined that the head-on collision transpired along a 35-mph curve on Willow Glen Drive.
At the scene, the San Miguel Fire and Rescue Team tended to an overturned white pickup truck charred from the fire and a significantly damaged Honda vehicle.
Per news footage, it appeared rescuers tried using equipment and tools to free an occupant trapped inside.
One person succumbed to his or her injuries while the other suffered critical injuries.
Yet it is unclear at this point what led to the crash. However, authorities are investigating whether speed, impairment or distracted driving played a role.
The crash forced closure for multiple hours as crews cleaned up and canvassed the area for evidence.
