Man Dies Following Davis Collision
DAVIS, CA (December 28, 2018) – A Wednesday afternoon crash on the 80 Freeway near County Road 32A left an 85-year-old man from Sacramento dead.
According to news reports, the incident unfolded when California Highway Patrol officers first responded to reports of a hit-and-run crash on the westbound lanes of Highway 50 near the 80 Freeway. An officer located a green Ford vehicle driving westbound on the 80 Freeway and attempted to make a traffic stop; however, the driver sped up and crashed, causing major injuries to the driver who was not believed to be wearing a seatbelt.
The 85-year-old man from Sacramento driving the 1995 Ford was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers are investigating whether alcohol, drugs or a medical condition played a factor in the collision. Anyone with information is asked to call the CHP Woodland office at (530) 662-4685.
