David Lopez and 2nd Driver Killed in Head-On Accident on D Street Near 15 Freeway

VICTORVILLE, CA (December 5, 2019)—Two people lost their lives on Tuesday in a head-on collision on D Street near the 15 Freeway.

The accident happened around 10:42 p.m. in the 16300 block of D Street near Sherman Way.

The Victorville Fire Department and deputies with the Victorville Station arrived at the scene to find a silver Dodge minivan and a white Chevrolet pickup truck. Officials found both vehicles nose-to-nose and with significant damage.

At the scene, police confirmed that the driver of the white truck—a 62-year old Phelan man whose identity is not known at this time—died at the scene. David Ponciano Lopez, a 28-year old Victorville man who’d been operating the minivan, also perished at the scene.

From the preliminary investigation and through speaking with witnesses, authorities determined that the eastbound minivan traveling on D Street veered over the raised concrete center median and traveled into oncoming traffic. Subsequently, the van struck the pickup head-on.

No other occupants were inside either vehicle during the time of the crash. In addition, the accident closed D Street between the 15 North Freeway off-ramp and Pearl Arbor Terrace for several hours.

Our law firm would like to send our sympathies to the families and friends of David Ponciano Lopez and the other victim.
