David Kawashima Killed in Park Avenue DUI Crash in Tustin

 
Tustin, CA (April 19, 2021) – On Sunday, 62-year-old David Kawashima from Orange died while police arrested 29-year-old Pedro Pantoja Jr in a DUI crash on Park Avenue.
 
The fatal accident took place at around 8:45 a.m. in the 2800 block area, wherein Kawashima died at the scene.
 
Officers said Pantoja fled the scene prior to them arriving.
 
Authorities started a pursuit that ended when Pantoja went southbound lanes of Jamboree Road and crashed with another vehicle north of Warner Avenue.
 
Moreover, Irvine police responded to the second crash scene at the border between the cities.
 
Irvine police arrested Pantoja and booked him on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, causing injury to his passenger while driving under the influence, vehicle theft, a parole violation, and evading a police officer.
 
Meanwhile, a female passenger in the vehicle driven by Pantoja was also injured in the crash. She was transported to a hospital for treatment.
