Photographer Daniel Patten II Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash Near East 230th Street
Carson, CA (December 27, 2020) – On Christmas Day, photographer and videographer Daniel Patten AKA Dano Live was struck and killed by a vehicle near East 230th Street and Banning Street.
The fatal Carson crash took place at 1:30 p.m., in an illegal street race.
Apparently, a driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the crowd of onlookers.
Several people were injured in the incident, although the extent of their injuries was not clear.
Patten was taking pictures of the race, which is held every year on Christmas day, when the accident happened.
His girlfriend and some close friends held a vigil for Patten Saturday night. There, they spoke of his love of cars and his big heart.
Patten’s girlfriend said she hopes that authorities would catch the people involved in the crash. Also, that people would stop illegal street racing.
“Nobody tried to render any aid,” a friend of Patten said. “I don’t know if it was even possible because of how devastating his injuries were, but just the fact no one took the time to call 911 is really sad.”
Meanwhile, no arrest was made as the driver involved in the crash fled the scene. The LASD does not have any suspect information.
The LASD’s Carson Station spearheaded this investigation.
On March 31st, authorities revealed they arrested Tony Tatum, 36, and Henry Hurtado, 33, for the illegal street race crash. Both men are facing murder charges.
Additionally, the race organizer is being charged with felony conspiracy, along with man in attendance facing charges of child neglect.
