Daniel Harris Killed in Motorcycle Accident on Cathedral Oaks Road and King Daniel Lane
Goleta, CA (September 5, 2020) – On Friday, 58-year-old Daniel Harris died in a motorcycle crash on Cathedral Oaks Road.
The fatal accident happened at about 3:54 p.m. at King Daniel Lane near the Glen Annie Golf Club.
Santa Barbara County Fire and AMR immediately responded to the scene. They found a white Dodge truck that collided with a white Yamaha motorcycle.
Sheriff’s deputies said the crash caused the motorcycle to start a fire and spread flames into a nearby tree. Authorities were able to put the fire down quickly.
First responders pronounced the motorcyclist, Daniel Harris, dead at the scene.
Authorities closed Cathedral Oaks Road for several hours from Evergreen Drive to Placer Drive so deputies could collect evidence and conduct the initial investigation. It was reopened before 9 p.m.
Deputies determined the motorcyclist, Mr. Harris, was traveling eastbound on Cathedral Oaks Road while the truck was traveling westbound.
It appeared that the pickup truck turned left from Cathedral Oaks toward King Daniel Lane in front of the motorcycle. As a result, the vehicles crashed.
The Sheriff’s Office said the Dodge truck driver stayed on scene and cooperated with the investigators.
