Daniel Beavers of Eastvale Killed in Sumner Avenue Hit-and-Run Crash [Eastvalle, CA]

Eastvalle, CA (February 18, 2023) – On Thursday, Daniel Beavers, a 70-year-old Eastvale resident, died, while the authorities arrested Cathie Lee, 56, in a Sumner Avenue hit-and-run crash.

The fatal traffic accident took place at 6:35 p.m. south of 68th Street.

Sgt. Ignacio Robles stated that Beavers was attempting to cross Sumner Avenue when a black Mercedes-Benz SUV driven by Cathie Lee struck him at an undetermined speed.

Reports said Cathie Jiaping Lee fled right after the accident.

Officers provided life-saving measures on Beavers until paramedics arrived at the scene and continued the effort. However, Beavers was declared dead at the scene at 7:10 p.m.

Moreover, the authorities located and arrested Lee on Mission Boulevard without incident. They booked her into Robert Presley Jail in Riverside on suspicion of hit-and-run resulting in great bodily injury or death.

Lee posted a $75,000 bond in the predawn hours Friday and was released.
