65-Year-Old Cynthia Moss Killed in Horrific Hit-and-Run Crash on Phelan Road [Phelan, CA]

Phelan, CA (September 18, 2024) On Monday evening, 65-year-old Cynthia Moss was fatally struck while crossing Phelan Road near Buttemere Road.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is asking for public assistance to locate a vehicle involved in a deadly hit-and-run that occurred Monday night in Phelan, at approximately 7:40 p.m.

Reports say that a white 2009-2010 Kia Sportage, traveling eastbound on Phelan Road, hit Moss as she crossed the road.

The impact threw her to the south shoulder of the road.

Witness say that following the collision, the driver stopped briefly, removed Moss’s walker from the scene, and then fled.

Authorities have yet to identify the driver or the vehicle, which may have significant damage to its right front end.

The CHP is investigating the incident and urging anyone with information to contact the Victorville CHP office. It remains unclear whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the collision.
