Janely Magali Bautista Arrested After DUI Crash on Gopher Canyon Road in Bonsall

Bonsall, CA (March 31, 2024) – On Thursday night, CHP released information that a DUI crash on Gopher Canyon Road left a man dead and a woman severely injured.

The crash happened at around 11:24 p.m. on Gopher Canyon Road, east of Hoxie Ranch Road. Janely Magali Bautista, a 29-year-old woman from Valley Center, was driving a brown Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on Gopher Canyon Road when she entered the westbound traffic lane and collided with a white Toyota Camry.

Upon arrival, first responders took the Toyota’s 51-year-old female driver from Vista and her 52-year-old male passenger to the hospital. 

The man succumbed to his injuries, while the driver of the Toyota sustained major injuries. 

Bautista, who incurred minor injuries, faces charges of murder, felony driving under the influence, and gross vehicular manslaughter, as per CHP’s report.

The investigation required the closure of both lanes on Gopher Canyon Road.
