Albuquerque, NM (August 30, 2024) – Friday morning, a pedestrian died in a crash on Central Avenue and 1st Street.

At approximately 6:15 a.m., the Albuquerque Police Department‘s Fatal Crash team responded to a tragic incident involving a city solid waste vehicle that struck a pedestrian near Central Avenue and 1st Street.

Upon arrival, officers determined that the pedestrian had died at the scene.

The incident occurred within the inside perimeter of the Alvarado Transportation Center, which was temporarily locked down as authorities conducted their investigation.

The transportation center was reopened to the public around 10 a.m. after the investigation was completed.
