Fatal Hit-and-Run Collision Reported in Costa Mesa
COSTA MESA, CA (December 5, 2018) – One person was killed and several others were injured Tuesday night in a hit-and-run collision on the 55 Freeway near Del Mar Avenue.
According to California Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Kovaletz, the crash happened around 6:10 p.m. near the Del Mar Avenue off-ramp. One person was confirmed dead in the crash and several others were hospitalized.
Another individual fled the scene but was later arrested by CHP officers near Vanguard Way and Georgetown Lane less than two hours later. He was subsequently booked on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
News reports did not specify how the incident occurred or release the names of those injured and killed.
