Hemet Scooter Accident Killed Constance Markel Good
Hemet, CA (September 17, 2020) – On Wednesday, 66-year-old Constance Markel Good of Hemet died in a scooter accident on Menlo Avenue.
The accident happened at about 10 p.m. near Glenn Way, wherein the victim’s mobility scooter was hit by a sedan whose driver did not see her in the middle of the dark street.
Sgt. Dan Reinbolt said the woman was traveling on Menlo Avenue in the single traffic lane. She passed Jacinto Valley Cemetery when a man at the wheel of a 1997 Honda Civic approached from behind.
“The woman was riding near the center of the eastbound lane, during darkness, with no lights illuminated on her mobility scooter,” Reinbolt said. “The driver of the Honda … did not see the (victim) until it was too late, and a collision occurred.”
The involved driver stopped and called 911.
The woman sustained fatal injuries. Hemet Fire Department paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.
“It is not clear why the woman was in the roadway,” he said. “The investigation is ongoing.” Authorities did not say why the victim required the use of a mobility scooter.
