Clayton Charles and Crystal Grall Killed, Edward Perez Hospitalized in Solo-Car Crash on 5 Freeway Near Lurline Avenue
WILLIAMS, CA (May 15, 2019) – Two people died in a Sunday rollover crash on the 5 Freeway near Lurline Avenue.
The incident happened around 11:50 p.m. on the southbound 5 Freeway. Officers found a car on its roof and blocking a lane of traffic.
Authorities determined that Edward Kenneth Perez was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe south at a high rate of speed. The Tahoe subsequently veered to the right shoulder and then traveled across the traffic lanes before it overturned several times.
The car landed on its roof and Clayton Lloyd Charles, 25, and Crystal Leann Grall, 33 – both from Washington – were ejected. Charles and Grall died in the accident.
Perez, 31, suffered moderate injuries and sought treatment at Enloe Medical Center.
Although an investigation continues, police have determined thus far that impairment may have played a role.
We’d like to take this moment to express our sincere sympathies to the friends and families of Clayton Lloyd Charles and Crystal Leann Grall.
