Clarence Perry Jr. Detained Following 4-Vehicle Accident on Ceanothus Avenue Near East Avenue
CHICO, CA (May 16, 2019) – Police arrested a DUI driver Monday following a four-car crash on Ceanothus Avenue near East Avenue.
According to Chico Police, Clarence Perry Jr. struck a vehicle and caused a four-car pile-up at twice the posted speed limit.
During the 7:40 a.m. accident, Perry had been traveling south along Ceanothus Avenue near Pleasant Valley High School. Several people suffered unknown injuries that required hospitalization.
When investigating the 66-year-old man, police discerned signs of impairment consistent with narcotic use. In addition, they uncovered narcotics on the driver’s door of his vehicle.
Officers subsequently arrested Perry after a series of sobriety tests.
The Chico man now faces charges of felony driving under the influence of a controlled substance causing injury, felony child endangerment, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
