Police Arrest 39-Year-Old Christopher Dodson on North Government Way Fatal Crash
Spokane, WA (March 12, 2021) – On Saturday, police arrested 39-year-old Christopher Dodson in a DUI crash on North Government Way.
The fatal crash took place minutes after 3 a.m. on the 200 block area.
Officers received a report of a GMC Yukon driven off the road, while an unresponsive woman was inside it.
When officers arrived, they found Dodson, who told them “the driver” ran north on Government Way.
Furthermore, Dodson elaborated that he was walking to Airway Heights when he saw the crash. Apparently, he ran after the driver and tried to him.
Also, Dodson told the officers that he went to check on the woman and waved down a passerby to call 911.
On the other hand, officers noticed Dodson was limping and swaying during their conversation. They also saw his bleeding hands and he had tiny shards of broken glass on his pants and sweatshirt.
So, they ran Dodson’s name and found had an active misdemeanor warrant out for his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence. Similarly, his driving privileges were suspended.
As a result, they arrested him for the warrant.
Later on, officers determined he was the Yukon driver with keys that appeared to match the vehicle in his pocket.
Moreover, authorities recommended charges of vehicular assault and driving while suspended against Dodson.
Meanwhile, officers found out Sunday night that the victim died. So, they recommended a charge of vehicular manslaughter instead of assault.
Authorities withheld the victim’s identity.
