Vehicle Crash on 10 Freeway Injured CHP Officer and Others
Los Angeles, CA (February 12, 2021) – On Thursday, a CHP motorcycle officer, and three others were injured in a vehicle crash on 10 Freeway.
Authorities responded to the crash scene before 10 a.m. near the Normandie Avenue exit.
Apparently, a Toyota Prius and a second vehicle on the fast lane of the westbound side of the freeway were involved in the incident.
While a tow truck driver loaded the stranded Prius onto a tow truck, an officer stood to direct oncoming traffic away from the fast lane.
Then, at around 10:30 a.m., a Nissan Altima passing the traffic drove along the left shoulder, near the center divider. The vehicle crashed with the CHP officer’s motorcycle.
As a result, both the officer and the truck operator were injured.
Immediately, the Altima driver attempted to run away. However, bystanders intervened and stopped the driver from leaving.
Responders took the CHP officer, tow truck operator, the Altima’s driver, and at least two passengers to a hospital.
Luckily, all patients sustained non-fatal injuries and were expected to survive.
Moreover, the incident forced several closures along the freeway and caused heavy traffic congestion in the area.
Always be a responsible driver. Keep your eyes on the road when driving.
