Officer and Driver Collide in San Bernardino During Traffic Break
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (July 17, 2019) – An officer was injured in a collision on 10 Freeway, near South Tippercanoe Avenue Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities responded to the accident around 4:38 p.m., on westbound 10 Freeway. First responders arrived to the area shortly after receiving multiple dispatch calls.
According to reports, the incident unfolded when the motorcycle officer began making a traffic break regarding a call of a pedestrian holding a pickax on the freeway. During this traffic break, the officer collided with a gray Nissan Versa, driven by a 33-year-old woman from Hesperia.
As a result, the unidentified female driver of the Nissan was brought to a local hospital for further medical examination. However, there has been no update on her current condition.
Moreover, the circumstances leading up to the incident remain unclear at this time, but authorities still plan to investigate this case further.
Furthermore, the surrounding area was closed off for a brief time while crews worked to clear the wreckage. However, the roadway has since reopened.
