CHICO, CA – Man Killed in Pedestrian Crash on Highway 99 at Hamilton Nord Cana Highway

Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Highway 99 in Chico

 
CHICO, CA (January 3, 2019) – A man was killed following a pedestrian crash Thursday morning on Highway 99 in Chico, CHP officials said.
 
The fatal crash happened around 5:49 a.m. near Hamilton Nord Cana Highway, just South of Centerfolds.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was seen walking close to the white line on the westbound side of Highway 99 near Hamilton Nord Cana Highway.
 
Witnesses at the scene then said that the man jumped in front of a white Volkswagen sedan.
 
First responders found the man lying on the roadway with fatal injuries. His name, age and town of residence were not immediately available pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.
 
The incident caused significant damage to the front windshield of the car, but the driver was unharmed.
 
The fatal crash remained under investigation, but alcohol and drugs have not been ruled out as possible contributing factors.
