Chelsea Taylor Injured in Atascadero 2-Vehicle Collision on Highway 41
ATASCADERO, CA (September 16, 2019) — A 23-year-old woman suffered injuries in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 41 Thursday night.
The accident occurred at about 6:59 p.m., the authorities said. In addition, police identified the involved vehicles as a 2009 Nissan Versa and a 2016 Ford Edge.
23-year-old Chelsea Taylor of Atascadero was driving the Nissan southbound on Highway 41 approaching Homestead Road. After that, 58-year-old Jon Wells drove the Ford on the highway, also approaching Homestead Road.
Reports indicated that Wells failed to yield to oncoming traffic. After that, he turned directly into the path of the Nissan. As a result, the action triggered the accident.
A ground ambulance transported Taylor to Sierra Vista Hospital with major injuries.
The authorities did not suspect that impairment was a factor in the crash. However, an investigation is ongoing.
Failing to yield the right-of-way is one of the most frequent causes of traffic collisions. If you see a yield sign ahead, be prepared to let other drivers crossing your road take the right-of-way. If there is no yield sign and you are pulling into a highway, slow down or stop if necessary. Avoid accidents at all costs by driving defensively.
