HOUSTON, TX (December 22, 2023) – Tuesday afternoon, Charles Washington was arrested after a brutal multi-vehicle crash on 12300 Almeda Road.

The incident happened at about 5:05 p.m. in the 12300 block of Almeda Road.

According to reports, 28-year-old Washington drove an Infiniti SUV, which crashed with at least two other vehicles.

When authorities arrived, they found an unresponsive baby in the SUV who was taken to a hospital. However, the child was declared dead.

Meanwhile, as officers tried to detain the suspect, he started being aggressive and lunged at them. Eventually, the officers detained him and took him to an area hospital for an evaluation.

Moreover, responders took 2 child passengers in the SUV, a 13-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy, to a hospital for treatment of injuries.

Investigators found out that the suspect was driving at a high rate of speed on Almeda Road, and hit at least two vehicles before it came to a stop.

Meanwhile, the authorities charged the suspect with manslaughter and attempt to take a weapon from a police officer.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
