Cesar Santos Killed in Phoenix Pedestrian Accident Near 75th Avenue
Phoenix, AZ (January 11, 2021) – On Saturday, 31-year-old Cesar Santos died while police arrested 21-year-old Alejandro Bautista in a DUI crash near 75th Avenue and Indian School Road.
Authorities responded to a car traveling over 75 miles per hour at 75th Avenue and struck a man who was crossing the street.
Unfortunately, the pedestrian, Santos, died at the scene.
Meanwhile, officers booked Bautista, the driver, into jail to face a manslaughter charge.
Authorities said there was evidence showing Bautista was street racing.
While the authorities investigate, they placed traffic barricades around the scene.
Suddenly, a vehicle driving northbound on 75th Avenue crashed through the barricades and struck the cruiser head-on.
The two officers were inside the police cruiser were hospitalized with non-fatal injuries.
The authorities arrested the 21-year-old suspect driver for driving under the influence.
The police continue to investigate the incident.
