Cathe Lawson Identified in Deadly Chico Car Crash
CHICO, CA (June 26, 2019) – Officials have identified the woman who died in a car crash on Highway 32 on Monday as Cathe Lawson.
The Chico Police Department investigative team said that Lawson was 61-year-old and from Chico.
An investigation revealed that Lawson was driving a Subaru which collided with a GMC pickup truck driven by 68-year-old Robert Maxam of Los Angeles. She was leaving the newer subdivision at Highway 32 and Yosemite Drive when the crash occurred.
She pulled out from the stop sign and went directly into the path of Maxam who was driving to Lake Almanor.
The police said alcohol or drugs were not factors in the collision. Moreover, the witnesses statements and physical evidence indicated that the speed was consistent with the limit of 55 mph.
Further investigation of the crash is underway. Maxam has been cooperative with the investigation as per the police.
