Jimmie Junior Adkison II Dies, Cassandra Petty Suffers Injuries in DUI Crash on Lake Boulevard

 
Redding, CA (December 9, 2020) – On Tuesday, 31-year-old Cassandra Petty was injured in a fatal DUI crash on Lake Boulevard.
 
Redding police officers immediately responded to the fatal Redding accident.
 
Upon arrival, authorities located a white Buick Riviera with severe front-end damage in the middle of the roadway. Also, they located a black Toyota 4-Runner on its passenger-side against a light pole.
 
Redding police said the 4Runner didn’t appear to stop or slow down prior to the accident. They also said the 4Runner and a white sedan crashed. Then, the 4Runner rolled and crashed into a street pole.
 
Police said the driver and passenger inside the 4-Runner were trapped.
 
Redding Fire Department crews extricated them.
 
Rescuers took the driver to Mercy Hospital with major injuries. Meanwhile the passenger, identified as Jimmie Junior Adkison II, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
 
Police said neither of them were wearing seatbelts.
 
Moreover, Petty, the Buick driver sustained minor injuries.
 
Along with other witnesses, Petty told police the driver in the 4-Runner was driving northbound on Lake Boulevard and ran through a red light.
 
Also, she said she was making a left-hand turn on a green light when the 4-Runner crashed with her.
 
Furthermore, authorities arrested the 4-Runner driver for driving under the influence of drugs, causing injury. They released him to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
 
The DUI driver was later identified as 24-year-old Robert Maughs of Shasta Lake. Police said Maughs was already on parole for a previous DUI charge.
