Srikar Mapakshi and 2 Others Hurt in Fatal Crash on Highway 155
Tyler, TX (April 24, 2024) On Thursday afternoon, 71-year-old Carol Mitchell of Lake Havasu City, 84-year-old Douglas Norwood, and 78-year-old Janet Norwood both of LaRue were killed in a horrific crash on State Highway 155.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal crash happened around 5 p.m. on April 18 at State Highway 155.
Reports say that a 2016 Ford Fusion, driven by Douglas Norwood coming out of a private driveway, failed to yield the right of way to a 2014 Honda Accord, driven by 42-year-old Srikar Mapakshi. Causing the Honda to hit the Ford.
The collision caused the Ford to cross into the southbound lanes and hit a 2018 Hyundai Elantra driven by 33-year-old Cassandra Tait of Palestine.
Authorities pronounced Norwood, his passenger Janet Norwood, and Mitchell, who is a passenger in Tait’s vehicle, dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, Mapakshi, Tait, and 54-year-old Lisa Crawford of Palestine, another passenger inside Tait’s vehicle, suffered injuries and were taken to the hospital.
DPS is investigating the fatal 3-vehicle collision.
