Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit by Train in Carlsbad
CARLSBAD, CA (February 4, 2019) – A man was fatally struck by a Pacific Surfliner train Saturday morning at the Carlsbad Village Station near Washington and State streets.
San Diego County Sheriff’s Lt. Dave Perkins said the incident happened just before 8:15 a.m. when Train 562 struck a man. Passengers on board the train had to wait before being allowed to disembark in Solana Beach while passengers headed for San Diego were asked to transfer to Train 1564.
Train 1569 was canceled due to the incident and passengers were urged to use Train 1573 instead.
An investigation of this deadly incident is underway. There was no further description regarding the identity of the man killed. Details regarding the events leading to the crash were unavailable.
