Two Injured in Car Collision into Viella Trieste Retirement Home
OCEANSIDE, CA (April 17, 2019) – Wednesday evening, a man crashed into Viella Trieste retirement home and injured two women who were inside of the building.
The crash occurred at 5:20 PM in a senior home off of Rancho Del Oro Drive, just west of MiraCosta College.
Officials reported that a man in his eighties was picking up his wife from the retirement home. There, he mistook the accelerator for the break. The car then jumped the curb and crashed through the front doors of the building. As a result, he struck his wife and another women. The vehicle involved was identified as a silver Toyota Matrix.
Oceanside Police Sergeant Jeff Brandt stated both victims were hurt in the accident. One of them was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego. The other woman was transported to a nearby hospital. However, it is unknown which hospital the driver’s wife went to.
There has been no further additional information released regarding the circumstances leading up to the case as investigations are ongoing.
