Triple Fatality in Solo-Vehicle Wreck in Campo
CAMPO, CA (November 30, 2018) – Three people were killed Thursday evening following a single-vehicle rollover crash on the 8 Freeway near Crestwood Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 4:30 p.m. along the westbound lanes of the 8 Freeway. Border patrol agents were pursuing a Chevrolet Silverado truck that had 11 people inside. Agents utilized a spike strip, which caused the truck driver to lose control and veer into an embankment near Golden Acorn Casino and Travel Center. The truck was seen on its left side in the No. 2 westbound lane of the freeway.
CHP officials said all occupants except the driver were not wearing a seatbelt, and all 10 people were thrown from the vehicle.
At this time, it is unclear what led to the crash, but a follow-up investigation is underway.
