1 Dead in Thornton Auto Accident near New Hope Road and W New Hope Road

THORNTON, CA (February 6, 2024) – Sunday morning, a brutal single-vehicle crash near New Hope Road and W New Hope Road killed 1 person.

The incident happened at about 1:11 a.m. near the intersection of New Hope Road and West New Hope Road, about 25 miles south of Sacramento and close to Interstate 5.

According to reports, a vehicle traveled east on New Hope Road at speeds between 50 and 55 miles per hour. Then, it failed to complete a turn and went off the road, hitting a tree.

The impact killed one of the rear passengers who failed to wear a seatbelt, a 48-year-old woman.

Meanwhile, the driver suffered major injuries and two other passengers had minor injuries. Responders transported them to UC Davis Medical Center.

Moreover, CHP confirmed that alcohol impairment played a role in the crash and the driver was arrested.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
