1 Dead in San Gregorio Bicycle Accident on Highway 1 near Stage Road
SAN GREGORIO, CA (November 26, 2023) – Thursday afternoon, a brutal bicycle crash on Highway 1 near Stage Road killed 1 person.
According to reports, a GMC Yukon male driver traveled north just after 2:00 p.m. on Highway 1 near Stage Road. However, the SUV appeared to struck a bicyclist who was in the right shoulder.
Then, the GMC drove into oncoming traffic, and struck a Chevrolet Silverado before hitting a tree, rolling over and coming to a stop halfway in an embankment. Then, it caught fire, said Jovita Ojeda, a CHP spokesperson.
As a result, the driver was declared dead at the scene. However, the identity of the deceased remained undisclosed due to pending family notification.
Meanwhile, a passenger in the GMC sustained minor injuries.
Also, responders took the bicyclist to a hospital after sustaining severe injuries in the crash.
Also, the authorities continued to investigate the cause of the crash.
Furthermore, the authorities urged anyone with information about the crash to contact investigators at 650-779-2700.
