Man Arrested after Orange County Car Accident on Santiago Canyon Road

ORANGE COUNTY, CA (October 25, 2019) – Authorities arrested a 26-year-old man after a DUI car accident on Santiago Canyon Road.

According to reports, the driver crashed into a power pole. This collision led to a brush fire on October 24. The Orange County Fire Authority revealed that the incident happened before 4:00 a.m. on East Santiago Canyon Road near the 241 Freeway.

The detectives believed that the car started the brush fire.

Meanwhile, responders transported the driver with a broken collar bone to a local hospital. After that, authorities arrested him on suspicion of DUI.

Moreover, the Fire Authority revealed that the fire burned around 5 acres of brush. This incident led to a hard closure of Santiago Canyon Road from the 241 Freeway to Loma Ridge. Authorities also shut down Live Oak Canyon to the 241 Freeway to non-residents.

“At this point, crews are making good work on the fire,” Fire Authority Capt. Paul Holaday stated. He added that the crews may early contain the fire.
