Brenden Medellin Involved in Pedestrian Accident on Main Street Near Sycamore Street

 
RED BLUFF, CA (July 25, 2019) – A man in a wheelchair suffered serious injuries in Wednesday’s pedestrian accident on Main Street near Sycamore Street.
 
Police responded to the major injury report around 12:43 p.m. Upon arrival, officers blocked Main Street 10 minutes after the incident.
 
As a result of the crash, the 59-year-old man was struck by 19-year-old Brenden Medellin. The victim was later brought to St. Elizabeth’s Community Hospital for further treatment of critical injuries. From there, paramedics airlifted him to Mercy Medical Center in Redding.
 
Meanwhile, police continued their investigation at the crash site. Police later determined that the victim had been crossing Sycamore Street while riding a powered wheelchair.
 
According to reports, Medellin will most likely be found at fault in the crash. Although, neither drugs nor alcohol appears to have played a role in the accident.
 
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time while crews worked to clear the wreckage. However, the roadway has since reopened.
