Brandon Englund Dies in Redding Motorcycle Collision
REDDING, CA (June 17, 2019) – A Thursday night motorcycle crash on South Market Street near Kenyon Drive claimed a 29-year-old man’s life.
According to the Shasta County coroner’s office, Brandon Lyle Englund died in the 10:05 p.m. accident. The 29-year-old was believed to be traveling southbound at speeds over 100 mph along South Market Street.
For unknown reasons, his 2003 Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle collided with the rear of a 2015 Dodge Ram 2500. Witnesses informed officers that the rider crashed into the back of the pickup truck after traveling at a high rate of speed.
Although wearing a safety helmet, the Redding man sustained grave injuries and died at the scene of the accident.
Investigators are still unsure whether alcohol or drugs played a role. However, they have determined that impairment did not play a role in the truck driver’s part.
As a result of the accident, authorities had to shut down nearby roadways before reopening them at 2:00 a.m. Friday.
