Child Injured in Pedestrian Accident at East Champlain Drive
FRESNO, CA (June 10, 2019) – A child suffered injuries Thursday in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident at East Champlain Drive.
According to reports, the incident unfolded around 8 a.m. Dispatchers arrived to the area near North Fort Washington Road shortly after.
The 10-year-old was walking to Valley Oak Elementary School at the time.
Reports also say a red sports car knocked the child down in a crosswalk when the driver rolled through a red light while making a right-hand turn.
After striking the boy, the driver stopped briefly yet subsequently sped away. The boy allegedly suffered minor injuries in the accident.
Furthermore, investigators currently believe the car might have been a Toyota Celica; however, officials plan to investigate the case further.
Maximize your safety by looking both ways before crossing the street and driving with caution. Neighborhoods, parking lots, school zones and intersections are riddled with pedestrians. Slow down in these areas and yield to anyone who may be potentially crossing the street.
