Child Fatally Struck by Vehicle in Torrance
TORRANCE, CA (March 27, 2019) – A 10-year-old boy died Tuesday night after a pickup truck struck him on Del Amo Boulevard near Crenshaw Boulevard.
Families are seeking answers and investigators are sorting out the details. According to news reports, police responded to the crash around 9 p.m. In the 2300 block of Del Amo Boulevard, officers found a boy with major injuries and pronounced him dead at the scene shortly after.
Family members arrived in the area and held one another as they grieved for the 10-year-old.
In their investigation, authorities determined that a 2018 black Ford pickup truck heading eastbound on Del Amo Boulevard tried avoiding a dog in the street. Witnesses added that the boy might have crossed the street from a nearby park when the accident occurred.
The 58-year-old man from Los Angeles driving the pickup truck escaped injury. In addition to their investigation, authorities determined that alcohol did not play a role.
