Child Hospitalized Following Pedestrian Accident in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 12, 2019) – A 4-year-old child was seriously injured after being hit by a truck on the 15 Freeway off-ramp to University Avenue Tuesday.
Around 12:05 a.m., the driver of the pickup truck, who saw the boy wandering in the lanes, tried slamming his brakes and steering to the left to avoid a crash. However, the pickup truck ended up hitting the boy as its driver attempted to stop.
The impact damaged the headlight of the truck and knocked the 4-year-old boy down.
Immediately after, the driver pulled over and tried helping the boy while another motorist stopped to call 911. Paramedics arrived and brought the child to Rady Children’s Hospital with major injuries. According to reports, medics found the boy conscious and crying.
Meanwhile, the driver stayed at the scene for questioning, which later proved that intoxication was not a factor.
