Driver Dies in Big Rig Accident on 5 Freeway [Elk Grove, CA]

Fatal Semi Collision on Twin Cities Road in Elk Grove

 
ELK GROVE, CA (March 29, 2019) – A big rig driver died Thursday morning in a single-vehicle accident on 5 Freeway near Twin Cities Road.
 
Witnesses say the big rig over corrected after drifting into the fast lane. He subsequently veered over an embankment and plowed into a nearby tree around 10:37 a.m. First responders arrived to the area shortly after.
 
Authorities described the big rig driver as a male in his 60s. Paramedics were quickly called to the scene due to the extent of his wounds. The victim eventually succumbed to his injuries, and was later pronounced dead.
 
Furthermore, officers also had to shut down two lanes during cleanup and preliminary investigation. A towing service was eventually called to the scene to remove the big rig.
 
Details remain limited at this time, however authorities are currently investigating the ultimate cause. No further details have been made available.
