Deadly Bicycle Crash, Hit-and-Run Driver Sought in Calistoga
CALISTOGA, CA (July 19, 2019) – A man died Thursday morning in a hit-and-run bicycle accident on Foothill Boulevard near Silver Street.
According to police Chief Mitch Celaya, witnesses reported seeing a male body around 4:00 a.m. lying near a bicycle. In addition, it is unknown when at what time the victim was hit.
Arriving officials determined that the victim’s blunt-force injuries appeared consistent with that of being hit by a car. However, it is unclear when the victim died.
Unfortunately, no one witnessed the crash, which leaves the Napa County Major Crimes Task Force with the heavy investigation.
Due to on-site investigations, drivers heading north on Highway 29 had to take Tubbs Lane until 2:00 p.m. when crews reopened Foothill Boulevard. Police did not release any other information regarding the accident at this time. However, an investigation into the accident is ongoing.
