Cyclist Dies in Bonsall Accident on Highway 76 near Olive Hill Road
BONSALL, CA (December 12, 2019)—A 63-year-old bicyclist died Wednesday when a driver struck him along Highway 76 near Olive Hill Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the bicyclist—a resident of Colorado—was pedaling southbound on the highway when a 2005 Infiniti G35 struck him from behind.
The victim died at the scene, and his identity is being withheld pending family notification.
After the collision, the 19-year-old Riverside man driving the Infiniti pulled over at a gas station to wait for officers’ arrival.
However, at this time, authorities are working to determine where the fault lies. It’s clear there are bicycle lanes near the area, but whether the bicyclist used these lanes remains unknown.
