Man Critically Hurt in Berkeley Pedestrian Accident
BERKELEY, CA (February 19, 2019) – A 68-year-old man was severely injured after being struck by a motorist on Shattuck Avenue and Rose Street Sunday night.
The 24-year-old male driver from Berkeley was on Shattuck Avenue before he attempted a westbound turn onto Rose Street and struck the 68-year-old man who was northbound in a crosswalk.
The victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to Highland Hospital while the driver stayed at the scene and was questioned by officers.
The pedestrian suffered head trauma and was unresponsive when officers arrived.
Based on a preliminary investigation, neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor in the collision.
