Benjamin Wilson Killed, Emad Aiad Involved in Deadly Pedestrian Accident on Highway 120 Near Pioneer Avenue
OAKDALE, CA (April 23, 2019) – A Modesto man died Saturday in a pedestrian crash on Highway 120 near Pioneer Avenue.
Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office identified 29-year-old Benjamin Wilson as the victim.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to a report around 1:10 a.m. Upon arrival, they found a 2018 Ford EcoSport occupied by two people who said their car ran out of fuel.
Around the scene, officers found debris in the road that appeared to have dealt with a recent collision.
In addition, police found Wilson’s body next to the Ford.
Officers determined Wilson had been a passenger in the Ford. However, as they investigated, dispatch received a call from Emad Samihakim Aiad, of Ripon.
According to Aiad, he struck Wilson with his 2012 Hyundai Elantra as he traveled west on Highway 120 at speeds of 55 to 65 mph. Wilson appeared to be standing in the roadway at the time.
Because details remain unclear, authorities are investigating several factors in the collision.
