58-Year-Old Barstow Man Struck and Killed by Vehicle in Accident on Yermo Road
San Bernardino, CA (December 25, 2020) – On Monday, a 58-year-old Barstow man died in a deadly pedestrian accident on Yermo Road.
The California Highway Patrol officers responded to the incident at about 6 p.m. north of Fort Irwin Road.
Apparently, the victim was standing in the northbound lane of Yermo Road when he was struck by a 2005 Toyota.
“For reasons still under investigation, the Toyota driver was unable to observe the pedestrian in the roadway and subsequently struck him,” CHP officials said in a statement.
Immediately, the involved driver pulled over and called 911.
The authorities pronounced the pedestrian pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner office has not released the deceased’s identity as of Tuesday afternoon.
CHP officials said drugs or alcohol are not considered to be a factor in this incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the Barstow area CHP at 760-255-5900.
