1 Dead, 1 Injured Following Bakersfield Crash
BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 29, 2018) – One person was killed Wednesday afternoon when a box truck collided with a vehicle before striking two pedestrians on Highway 58 near Highway 99.
The deadly incident happened around 1:10 p.m. on the westbound side of Highway 58 near the transition to Highway 99.
According to the California Highway Patrol, two people were exchanging information on the shoulder of the highway after having been involved in a two-vehicle crash. A driver in a Ford box truck made an unsafe lane change and sideswiped a Toyota Tundra in the No. 1 lane, which sent the Ford F-550 toward the two pedestrians exchanging information.
The two victims were hit and sent into the rear of the Chevy Blazer SUV that was involved in the earlier crash.
According to reports, the driver of the Chevy Blazer died while the other person was brought to Kern Medical with major injuries including a broken arm and internal injuries.
