Motorist Perishes in Bakersfield Two-Vehicle Wreck
BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 26, 2018) – A 51-year-old man lost his life Thanksgiving following a two-vehicle crash with a Peterbilt semi-truck on the 5 Freeway near Grapevine Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the 51-year-old man was operating a gray 2010 Lexus HS250 northbound on the 5 Freeway around 6 p.m. For unknown reasons, the driver failed to stop in front of a 2014 three-axle Peterbilt semi-truck and rear-ended the vehicle.
The Lexus driver suffered fatal injuries shortly after and the 50-year-old man from Bakersfield operating the semi-truck was unharmed.
Investigators are diving in to learn more about the incident and have so far determined that neither alcohol nor drugs played a role.
