Man Fatally Struck by Motorist While Biking in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (February 12, 2019) – A bicyclist was killed Monday night after being hit by a vehicle on Oswell Street at Alloway Lane.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was biking on Alloway Lane when he crossed the intersection with Oswell Street and into the path of an oncoming Dodge Caravan. The driver of the Dodge struck the bicyclist as he rode into his path.
The 10 p.m. crash left the bicyclist with fatal injuries. CHP does not suspect drugs or alcohol to be a contributing source to a collision.
According to a preliminary investigation, officers determined that the bicyclist was riding without lights and reflectors and failed to stop for traffic.
