Asghar Ehsan Detained Following Police Chase Accident That Injures One on North Sunrise Avenue Near Douglas Boulevard

ROSEVILLE, CA (January 16, 2020)—Officers arrested a 48-year-old man Tuesday following a collision with a city bus on North Sunrise Avenue near Douglas Boulevard.

The incident happened around 3:40 p.m. in the 6700 block of Calvine Road. Sacramento officers found a woman deceased inside a residence as they conducted a welfare check.

Police identified Asghar Ehsan as the suspect in the case, further adding that he and the woman knew each other.

A couple of hours later, Roseville Police received an alert about an armed homicide suspect outside of Sacramento. Soon after, police officers saw a vehicle matching the suspect’s car and who they believed was Ehsan inside the car.

Subsequently, officers urged Ehsan to exit the vehicle; instead, the 48-year-old had other plans and fled the scene from the Fry’s Electronics store parking lot.

Ehsan led police on a brief chase along North Sunrise Avenue before his vehicle struck a city bus. He then attempted to run, yet police officers caught up to him and booked him into Sacramento County Jail on homicide charges. Although no officers suffered injuries during the accident, a bus passenger did and sought treatment at a local hospital.
