Monterey, CA (March 02, 2021) – On Monday, police arrested Armando Alfaro Jr in a DUI crash on Highway 101.
 
The accident took place just after midnight near Camphora Gloria Road.
 
Apparently, several people reported a white Audi SUV driving the wrong way on Highway 101.
 
When officers arrived at the scene, they tried to stop the vehicle. Also, officers stopped the northbound traffic ahead of the driver to keep the people on the road out of danger.
 
However, Alfaro drove around a roadblock near Underwood Road and continued driving in the same direction.
 
For this reason, officers placed a spike strip near Central Avenue and two of the vehicle’s tires were punctured.
 
Subsequently, Alfaro continued driving away.
 
Later on, authorities used a PIT maneuver to stop Alfaro by spinning out the vehicle.
 
When the vehicle spun, it accelerated toward a deputy’s vehicle and crashed with the patrol car as it stopped.
 
Finally, authorities arrested Armando Alfaro Jr on DUI, evading a peace officer and other charges.
 
Meanwhile, responders took the deputy in the patrol car to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
