Ardeshir Tooraji Detained, 1 Dead after 3 Cars Collide on Harmony Grove Road near Wild Willow Hollow Road
ESCONDIDO, CA (February 3, 2020) — A three-vehicle accident on Harmony Grove Road near Wild Willow Hollow Road resulted in an arrest and a tragic fatality Friday morning.
The three-vehicle crash took place around 7:40 a.m. According to reports, a westbound Subaru WRX drifted into the opposing lanes for unclear reasons.
There, the Subaru sideswiped an oncoming Toyota Prius at high speeds. Then, it crashed head-on into an eastbound Toyota Highlander SUV, causing it to overturn.
The unidentified Subaru driver died at the scene. Reports say the victim’s name has been withheld pending notification of the family.
Meanwhile, the Toyota Prius driver — a 49-year-old San Marcos man — escaped harm.
Ardeshir Tooraji, whom authorities identified as the Toyota Highlander driver, suffered minor injuries. A 26-year-old man, a 34-year-old woman and a 38-year-old woman — all occupants of the Toyota Highlander — also suffered minor injuries.
Per investigations, CHP arrested Tooraji, 38, after having discovered that the Toyota Highlander was reported stolen.
Although impairment has been ruled out as a factor in the accident, the crash remains under investigation.
