Antonio Macias Dies in Accident on Highway 97 and West First Avenue [Wapato, WA]

Elderly Killed in Wapato Car Crash on Highway 97

 
WAPATO, WA (June 3, 2020) – Monday morning, Antonio Macias died in an accident on Highway 97 and West First Avenue in Wapato.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, 68-year-old Antonio Macias was traveling west on First Avenue in an Acura four-door sedan. Then, the accident occurred at about 7:00 a.m.
 
The troopers said that Macias didn’t yield to a traffic signal and collided with a northbound Chevy Silverado pickup on Highway 97.
 
As a result of the crash, Antonio Macias succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Troopers also revealed that Macias didn’t wear a seatbelt during the incident.
 
Meanwhile, the 22-year-old pickup driver from Toppenish wore a seatbelt. Moreover, he didn’t suffer any injuries.
 
At this time, the officers haven’t confirmed whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
