Anthony Salvato Dies in 5 Freeway Wreck Near East Avenida Palizada

 
SAN CLEMENTE, CA (November 20, 2018) – An Oceanside man was killed when his SUV sideswiped a vehicle and overturned on the 5 Freeway near East Avenida Palizada Monday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Toyota 4Runner sideswiped a Ford Fusion sedan around 6 a.m. as it was traveling southbound on the 5 Freeway. The driver of the Toyota SUV, who was identified as 22-year-old Anthony Salvato, lost control and was ejected from the car as it overturned.
 
The 22-year-old Oceanside man was pronounced dead at the scene. The 23-year-old Carlsbad woman operating the Ford sedan was unharmed and was cooperative with investigators.
 
Authorities are unsure whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. They do, however, believe the driver was not restrained in a seatbelt as the car overturned.
