Anthony Macias Injured, Driver Dead in Solo-Car Crash on San Juan Road Near Murphey Road
WATSONVILLE, CA (April 15, 2019) – An alleged DUI driver died Friday night in a solo-car crash on San Juan Road near Murphey Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 21-year-old man operating a pickup plowed into a utility pole around 11:26 p.m. As a result of the impact, the truck overturned on a road and ejected the driver from the cabin.
Arriving authorities found a 2004 Toyota Tundra that had evidently rolled over and killed its driver.
According to CHP, impairment was said to have influenced the driver to veer off the road and hit the pole.
Anthony Macias – a 23-year-old Hollister man and passenger of the car – suffered minor injuries. Per reports, paramedics brought him to Natividad Medical Center for treatment. A follow-up investigation of this crash is underway.
